Mema
This morning, at 3am, Mema passed away. I had spent about an hour before holding her hand and singing to her. I was actually on the other side of the bed next to her when she took her final breath.
My mom, her brother and I were able to sit with her for the next 2 hours or so while hospice and the funeral home arrived.
We are thinking that the funeral will be Monday. Thanks to all who have sent their prayers and kind thoughts.

I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. The photo of your grandmother is just beautiful. What a wonderful smile you will have to remember!
Sending you my sincerest condolences. I only just got to know Mema in your recent posts but was inspired by her bravery and love for life. Those traits really reached through the vastness of cyberspace so I can only imagine how wonderful it was for you and your girls to know this remarkable woman in person. Blessing and comfort to your family.
We are so sorry for your loss. I am sure that it was comforting, though, that you were able to be with her in her final moments and that your girls got to know their wonderful great grandmother.
We are thinking about you and your family and sending you our deepest condolences.
Oh Johlene,
I'm so sorry for your loss of your beautiful Mema! How comforting for you to be able to be there with her at her time. I experienced this same comfort being with my Mom when she passed in the hospital. Having spent this time with her will be a priceless treasure for you in the months and years to come. Our condolences to your whole family.
