Tuesday is generally weigh-in day. Lindsay, our Speech Therapist comes on Tuesdays and she likes it for her records. Past Tuesdays have generally put a damper on my mood, but today was a good day.
Natalie weighed in at a whopping 17# 3.5 oz. Up 4 oz since last week! Yea Natalie! Abby had pulled ahead almost a pound again, but now Natalie is closing in.
Abby has a .5 oz loss, but she is still 17# 11oz! She had a 5 oz gain from Oct 14 to Oct 21, so for two weeks, she's still doing pretty well.
For some reason, hitting 17#'s is exciting. It seems so much closer to 20#, especially now with Abby on the up side 17#s. Twenty pounds seems like some huge milestone. Twenty is when you can switch car seats and, well, it just sounds big.
Of course, I'm still very aware of the fact that my 6 month old neighbor already weighs 20#, but hey, someone has to make up the low end of the curve.
The girls have been eating well. Natalie has been draining her bottle - 6 ounces - (actually sucking air) at least twice a day - sometimes 3 times. I can't believe it, but I think we need to graduate to the big-girl 8 oz bottles! I never thought we would get there.
They have also been doing pretty well with their solids. Twice a day they sit in their high chairs and I offer a few kinds of foods. I've discovered that repetition is good for them. It takes them a while to like a new food, so I just offer it every time. Each time, they eat a little more. I do help feed them yogurt, but mostly I just put food on their tray and let them go at it.
Meal time is very messy. Stuff end up on the floor, in their seats, on their clothes, and my favorite, in their hair. Yuck. At least they look like they are having fun.
I am very pleased with their eating progress. Although at 17 months, they probably should be feeding themselves some, I think actual solo spoon feeding is a ways off. Then again, they are only 14.5 months corrected, so maybe we aren't too far behind.
I'll have to take some "before and after" meal pictures and post them.

Johelen,
I used to worry about my boys' weights all the time. Now at almost 6 yrs old, they are 33 lbs and 34 lbs. Still tiny, as your girls will undoubtedly be. But happy, smart and funny. I worry less these days! Jenny Regan (Evan and Neil, 6 in December)
